Application of Mr Price, Surveyor General In increase of Salary Requests reconsideration

I think Mr. Price ought hardly to be content with the increase of £200. He has only had short service in Hongkong, which the Secretary of State could always secure a competent Surveyor General for Hong Kong for £1200 Salary
If the allowance of $480 a year does not cover his necessary expenses, there may be some reason for increasing it but that is a different question
I am not in a position to pronounce a definite opinion without more local knowledge; $25 a month for the keep of a horse & groom is a cheap rate.
I do not know candidly what is alluded...
